Sucralose

Indications

Sucralose is a sugar substitute, which can be used as a sweetener in various foods such as tea, coffee, pudding, dairy products, jellies, fruit juices, desserts, hot and cold food drinks, etc. Due to the calorie-free sweetener, it is a good preparation for the health conscious. Sucralose may be a unique option for diabetics with excess glucose in their blood. The FDA has confirmed that sucralose can be used by everyone, including children, pregnant women, and anyone who wants to reduce their calorie intake.

Pharmacology

Sucralose is a zero calorie artificial sweetener. Sucralose is about 600 times sweeter than sugar. Sucralose Obtained from sucrose in which three hydroxyl groups are replaced by three chlorine atoms. Because it’s made from sugar, sucralose tastes like sugar. The tightly bound carbon-chlorine bonds are particularly stable and prevent the conversion of sucralose to energy, making sucralose calorie-free. The chlorine atoms also provide thermal stability, allowing sucralose to withstand cooking and baking without losing its sweetness. Sucralose is not broken down into energy in the body. Therefore, it has no calories. The sucralose molecule passes through the body unaltered, unmetabolized and eliminated after consumption. Sucralose does not cause caries, does not affect carbohydrate metabolism, does not affect fetal or neonatal development because sucralose is not actively transported across the blood-brain barrier, placental barrier or mammary gland. Sucralose does not interfere with glucose utilization and absorption, carbohydrate metabolism, and insulin secretion. It is therefore a safe substance that can be consumed by diabetics.
