Vitamin B complex
Indications
In physiologically demanding settings, vitamin B complex is recommended for preventative or therapeutic nutritional supplementation. Glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, and beriberi Vitamin-B complex is advised for preventative or therapeutic nutritional supplementation in physiologically demanding settings. Glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, and beriberi are examples of conditions that cause depletion or impaired absorption or bioavailability of critical B-vitamins.
Pharmacology
The most significant elements of the vitamin B group are present in pure form and in therapeutically adjusted amounts in the vitamin B complex. Vitamin B complex contains members of the vitamin B group, which are components of enzyme systems that regulate various stages of carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism, with each component serving a unique biological function. Glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, polyneuritis, beriberi, pellagra, and corneal vascularization are all symptoms of B vitamin deficiency.
Dosage & Administration
Tablet/ capsule: usual recommended dose is 1-2 tablet/capsule 3 times daily or as directed by the physician.
Syrup: 2-3 teaspoonful daily or as directed by the physician.
Injection: It is for intramuscular and intravenous administration. Usual recommended dose is 2 ml daily or as directed by the physician. In addition with Thiamine, Riboflavin, Nicotinamide, Pyridoxine; injectable dosage from contains D-Panthenol 5 mg.
Interaction
Levodopa’s efficacy in the treatment of parkinsonism can be reduced by as little as 5 mg pyridoxine per day. As a result, Vitamin-B complex is not advised for patients undergoing such treatment.
Contraindications
Patients who are allergic to any of the components of the vitamin-B complex should avoid taking it.
Side Effects
Specific vitamins and minerals have been linked to adverse effects, although at doses far higher than those seen in the Vitamin-B complex. At lesser concentrations, however, allergic and idiosyncratic reactions are possible. In certain patients, even at the prescribed dose, iron has been linked to gastrointestinal discomfort.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Vitamin B complex is safe to take throughout pregnancy and lactation.
