Description
Indications of Tenobis 2.5 Tablet
This tablet is indicated for the management of hypertension and in the treatment of coronary heart disease (angina pectoris). It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
Dosage and Administration of Tenobis 2.5 Tablet
- In hypertension or Angina Pectoris : The usual dose of Bisoprolol Fumarate is 5 to 10mg as single daily dose. The maximum recommended dose is 20mg daily.In heart failure : The inItial dose of bisoprolol Fumarate is 1.25mg once daily.
- If tolerated, the dose should be doubled after 1 week and then increased gradually at 1 to 4 week intervals to the maximum dose tolerated, this should not exceed 10mg once daily.
Patients with Renal or Hepatic Impairment: In patients with hepatic impairment (hepatitis or cirrhosis) or renal dysfunction (creatinine clearance <40 ml/min), the initial daily dose should be 2.5 mg and caution should be used in dose-titration. Since limited data suggest that Bisoprolol fumarate is not dialyzable, drug replacement is not necessary in patients undergoing dialysis. Or as directed by the registered physician.
Interaction of Tenobis 2.5 Tablet
Combinations not recommended : Calcium antagonists (e.g. verapamil, diltiazem), Class-I antiarrythmic drugs (e.g. quinidine, lidocaine, phenytoin, etc.), Antihypertensive drugs such as clonidine and others.
Contraindications
Tenobis is contraindicated in Patient with cardiogenic shock, second or third degree AV block, sick sinus syndrome, bradycardia, and hypersensitivity to any of the excipients.
Side Effects of Tenobis 2.5 Tablet
Fatigue, dizziness,headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation or abdominal pain,bradycardia, heart failure, depression and muscle weakness or cramps.
Pregnancy and Lactation
Tenobis should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary. It is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk. Therefore, breastfeeding is not recommended during administration of bisprolol. Pregnancy Category C by FDA.
Precautions & Warnings
Tenobis must be used with caution in bronchospasm, diabetes mellitus,strict fasting, ongoing desensitization therapy, AV block of first degree, Prinzmetal’s angina and in case of general anaesthesia.
