Tafluprost is indicated for reducing elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Tafluprost is a prostaglandin analog that acts as a selective FP prostanoid receptor agonist, lowering intraocular pressure by enhancing uveoscleral aqueous humor outflow.

Dosage and Administration

Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.

Patients who are hypersensitive to any component of tafluprost ophthalmic solution should avoid using it.

Side Effects

The most frequently reported treatment-related side effect is ocular hyperemia. Rare side effects observed include eye irritation and blurred vision.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy: Category C pregnancy. In pregnant women, there are no sufficient and well-controlled trials. During pregnancy, tafluprost ophthalmic solution should not be used unless the possible benefit outweighs the danger to the fetus.

It is unknown whether Tafluprost is secreted in human milk when used during breastfeeding. Giving this ophthalmic solution to a nursing mother should be done with caution.

Precautions & Warnings

  • Only for ophthalmic use.
  • Do not touch the dropper tip or any other surface to avoid contamination of the drops.
  • In individuals with active intraocular inflammation (e.g., iritis/uveitis), use with caution.
  • If more than one topical ophthalmic medicine is being used, the interval between administrations should be at least five (5) minutes.
