Description

Indications of T-Mycin Plus 5 ml

This sterile Eye Suspension is used to treat steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular diseases in which a corticosteroid is prescribed yet there is a risk of bacterial eye infection.

Pharmaceutical Name of T-Mycin Plus 5 ml

Aristopharma Ltd.

Pharmacology

Tobramycin’s bactericidal activity is achieved, like that of other amino-glycosides, by inhibiting normal protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria, but nothing is understood about how this action works at the moment. Protein synthesis suppression is hypothesized to be caused by a ribosome activity that causes bacterial messenger RNA misreading. Dexamethasone works by inhibiting phospholipase A2, which is the first step in prostaglandin formation. Dexamethasone also prevents neutrophils from chemo-tactically infiltrating the inflammatory site.As a result, it has a 25-fold higher anti-inflammatory activity and an 8-10-fold higher overall therapeutic effectiveness than hydrocortisone.

Insert 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3-5 times per day. During the initial 24 to 48 hours, the dosage may be increased to 1 drop every 2 hours.

Interaction of T-Mycin Plus 5 ml

Side Effects of T-Mycin Plus 5 ml

Localized ocular toxicity and hypersensitivity, including lid irritation and swelling, as well as conjuntival erythema, are the most common side effects of topical ocular Tobramycin. The steroid component causes an increase in intraocular pressure (IOP), which can lead to glaucoma and infrequent optic nerve injury, as well as the production of posterior subcapsule cataracts.
