Description

Indications of Pedeamin 100 ml

Diphenhydramine is prescribed to treat the following conditions:

  • Vasomotor rhinitis can be seasonal or permanent.
  • Angioneurotic oedema, urticaria, and anaphylaxis
  • Pruritic symptoms
  • Emesis and motion sickness medicine
  • Meniere’s illness and parkinsonism are two examples.

Pharmacology

Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that also acts as an anticholinergic and sedative. It competes with histamine for H1-receptor sites on effector cells in the GI tract, blood arteries, and lungs.

 

Dosage & Administration

Adult-

  • Most allergic conditions: 25-50 mg three times a day with a further 50 mg at night.

Children-

  • 1 to 5 years of age: 5 mg i.e., 2.5 ml of elixir 4 times a day
  • More than 6 years of age: 10 mg i.e. 5 ml of elixir 4 times a day

 

Interaction of Pedeamin 100 ml

Diphenhydramine substantially decreases the gastrointestinal absorption of the antituberculous drug para-aminosalicyclic acid (PAS). Diphenhydramine’s sedative effect may be exacerbated by CNS depressants. Anticholinergic medications may amplify Diphenhydramine’s anticholinergic adverse effects.

 

Contraindications

Ammonium chloride is contraindicated in the presence of known hypersensitivity to Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride. It is also contraindicated in the presence of compromised hepatic or renal function.

 

Side Effects of Pedeamin 100 ml

Sedation, dizziness, tinnitus, tiredness, ataxia, blurred vision, diplopia, euphoria, and epigastric pain are some of the side effects.

 

Pregnancy & Lactation

Category B: There have been no sufficient and well-controlled trials of diphenhydramine hydrochloride in pregnant women. As a result, diphenhydramine hydrochloride should be taken during pregnancy only when absolutely necessary. Diphenhydramine hydrochloride has been shown to be excreted in breast milk; thus, use of diphenhydramine hydrochloride in nursing mothers is not advised.

 

Precautions & Warnings

Patients whose sleepiness is undesired, such as drivers and machine operators, should be treated with caution. Concurrent use of alcohol or central nervous system (CNS) depressants will increase sleepiness.
