Indications
Sneezing, nasal discharge and itching, congestion or stuffiness, as well as ocular itching, tearing and redness, itching of the palate, and coughing are all symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Momento is also used to treat the symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria, such as the relief of itching.
Pharmacology
The main active metabolite of Loratadine, desloratadine, is a non-sedating, long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist with selective H1-receptor antagonist activity. Momento also stops human mast cells from releasing histamine.
Administration & Dosage
Drops for children aged 6 to 11 months: 2 mL once daily.
2.5 ml drops once a day for children aged 1-2 years.
Interaction
There have been no reports of clinically significant drug interactions.
Contraindications
Patients who are hypersensitive to Momento or any of its ingredients, as well as Loratadine, should not take it.
Side Effect
Headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, pharyngitis, dyspepsia, and myalgia are some of the less common side effects.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Classification C. Desloratadine’s safety during pregnancy has yet to be determined. As a result, unless otherwise specified, Momento should not be used during pregnancy. Momento is excreted in breast milk, so a decision should be made about whether to stop nursing or stop taking Desloratadine, taking into account the drug’s importance to the mother.
Precautions & Warnings
Based on pharmacokinetic data, a starting dose of one 5 mg tablet every other day is recommended in adult patients with liver or renal impairment. If the patient has a history of seizures due to a medical condition or a family history of seizures.
