Tinea capitis, corporis, manuum, pedis, barbae, cruris, unguium, or onychomycosis are examples of skin and nail diseases caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, and other fungi. Pityriasis versicolor, skin and nail candidiasis, angular stomatitis, otitis externa Miconazole Topical Cream can be utilized in mycoses that are secondarily infected with Gram-positive bacteria since it has an antibacterial effect.

Pharmacology

Miconazole topical cream is a broad-spectrum antimycotic with a significant antibacterial action against Gram-positive bacilli and cocci. It has good antifungal activity against dermatophytes, yeasts, and various physio-Asco and Adelomycetes. Miconazole topical cream was shown to be highly successful in treating secondarily infected mycoses that had become resistant to prior therapies or had resurfaced. Miconazole topical cream is non-staining to the skin and clothing.

Dosage & Administration

The dosage is the same for all ages.

For skin infections: Apply some cream to the lesions twice daily and rub it well with your finger until it has fully penetrated the skin. All lesions usually disappear after 2 to 5 weeks. Prolong treatment for some 10 days to prevent relapse.

For nail infections: Clip the infected nails as short as possible. Apply some cream once daily to the infected nail and rub it with your finger, and cover the nail with a non-perforated occlusive plastic bandage.

Also after loosening the infected nail (from 2-3 weeks onwards) uninterrupted treatment should be continued until the growth of a new nail has set in and a definite cure can be observed (usually after seven months or more).
