Description
Indications of Miclo 10 Ointment
Clobetasone preparations are indicated for the treatment of eczema and dermatitis of all kinds, including atopic eczema, photodermatitis, otitis externa, primary atopic dermatitis (including diaper rash), diaper rash, itchy nodules, seborrheic dermatitis and reactions to insect bites. Clobetasone can be used as a maintenance treatment between courses of any more active topical steroid.
Pharmacology of Miclo 10 Ointment
Clobetasone Butyrate is a topically active corticosteroid that offers an exceptional combination of activity and safety. It is more effective in treating eczema than 1% hydrocortisone or the less active synthetic steroid preparations commonly used. It has little effect on hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal function. All topical corticosteroids can cause skin atrophy if abused. However, one study in animal and human models indicated that clobetasone butyrate was less likely to cause epidermal thinning than other topical steroids tested.
