Pharmacology
This consists of two well-known and well-proven compounds: flupentixol, a neuroleptic with depressive and anxiolytic characteristics at modest dosages, and melitracen, a bipolar thymoleptic with activating qualities in low doses. When the chemicals are combined, they form an antidepressant, anxiolytic, and activating formulation. Flupentixol and melitracen achieve their maximum blood concentrations in around 4 hours after oral dosing. Flupentixol has a biological half-life of 35 hours while melitracen has a biological half-life of 19 hours.
Dosage and Administration
Adults: Usually 2 tablets orally daily in the morning and noon. In severe cases, the morning dose may be increased to 2 tablets.
Elderly patients: 1 tablet in the morning.
Maintenance dose: Usually 1 tablet orally in the morning. In cases of insomnia or severe restlessness, additional treatment with a sedative in the acute phase is recommended.
Interaction
Alcohol, barbiturates, and other CNS depressants may be enhanced by this tablet. Hypertensive crises may occur if MAO inhibitors are taken at the same time.
