Pharmacology of Lytex 15 ml Pediatric Drop
Lytex 15 ml Pediatric Drop is the active metabolite of bromhexine and this metabolite has been shown to have a greater bronchial secretion effect than bromhexine. It improves the rheology of sputum through a hydration mechanism that leads to the liquefaction of mucus in the lumen of the respiratory tract, promoting coughing up mucus and reducing breathing difficulties. Stimulates alveolar cells to produce surfactant phospholipids, which helps reduce alveolar surface tension. It can also reduce bronchial hyperactivity. Due to its inhibitory effect on the production of cytokines and arachidonic acid metabolites, Ambroxol has anti-inflammatory properties. In COPD patients, it has traditionally improved airway patency.
