Glycerol + Liquid Sugar

Indications

Glycerol & Liquid Sugar is used to treat dry, itchy coughs and sore throats. It also aids in the treatment of productive cough.

Pharmacology

Glycerol is an osmotic dehydrating agent with lubricating and hygroscopic characteristics. It raises plasma osmolality, allowing water from extravascular areas to enter the plasma via osmosis.

Dosage & Administration

Adults including the elderly and children over 5 years: Two 5 ml spoonful (10 ml)
Children 1 to 5 years: One 5 ml spoonful (5 ml)
Children 3 month to 1 year: ½ to 1 spoonful (2.5 to 5 ml)

The dose should be repeated three or four times a day as required.

Contraindications

Any of the components may cause hypersensitivity or intolerance.

Side Effect

Unless the patient is allergic to the components, this medication is unlikely to produce adverse effects.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Although the safety of this drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been proved, it is not thought to pose a risk during these times.

Precautions & Warnings

Diabetics should be aware of this product’s carbohydrate level. Give to youngsters under the age of one year. All medications should be kept out of the reach of youngsters.
