Pharmacology of Glustin Max Tablet
Glucosamine (2-amino-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucose) is a naturally occurring amino sugar that is generated by the body and present in a variety of meals. It’s the most basic building component for glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) like Hyaluronic Acid, Keratan Sulfate, and Chondroitin Sulfate production. GAGs bond to proteins to produce proteoglycans, which are an important component of articular cartilage. Osteoarthritis develops when cartilage in a joint deteriorates. It also aids in the formation of ligaments, tendons, nails, and other connective tissues.
Diacerein is a drug that is used to treat osteoarthritis. It also possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, and analgesic properties. It suppresses the production of InterLeukin-1 (IL-1), the primary cytokine implicated in cartilage degradation, in vitro. It has been demonstrated to have a disease-modifying impact in laboratory models of osteoarthritis and in human individuals with finger joint and knee osteoarthritis due to its unique method of action.
