Indications of Flacol 40 mg Tablet

Simethicone is a good and efficient antiflatulent for flatulence, abdominal distention, fullness, gas, and windy colic. It is used to treat the unpleasant symptoms of bloating and gas in the digestive tract. Excessive air swallowing or eating foods that disagree are common causes of gas. Simethicone drops, which operate in the stomach and intestines, are especially useful in newborns. Simethicone facilitates the release and elimination of gas by belching or passing flatus.

Large bowel preparation: Adding Simethicone to a polyethylene glycol bowel preparation improves symptoms before further study in the treatment of foamy detergent intake.

Poisoning treatment: Simethicone has been used anecdotally as an antifoaming agent in the treatment of foaming detergent poisoning.

Pharmacology

Flacol@ (Simethicone) is used as an antiflatulent to relieve svmptoms commonly referred to gas including upper Gl’bloating, pressure,fullness o’ stuffed feeling.The clinical use of Flacol@ is based on its ant”oaming properties. lts antifoaming action relieves flatulence by dispersing and preventing the forn’ation of mucous surrounded.

Dosage & Administration

Take before bedtime and after meals. It’s OK to offer it to your baby with his or her food. Before each usage, give the bottle a good shake.

Children under the age of two years: 20 mg (0.3 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) four times a day up to 240 mg per day (3.6 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops).

40 mg (0.6 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) 4 times daily for children aged 2 to 12.

Adults:

• 40-125 mg (0.6 ml-1.9 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) 4 times daily, up to 500 mg/day (7.5 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) or
• 1-3 Simethicone chewable tablets; 4 times daily, up to 500 mg/day (12 Simethicone chewable tablets).

Interaction of Flacol

There is no evidence that Simethicone modifies the effect ofother drugs.

Side Effects of Flacol

Simethicone is physiologically inert and no adverse effect has been noted after oral ingestion.
