Pharmacology
Butenafine is a synthetic antifungal agent, structurally and pharmacologically related to the allylamine antifungal agent. The exact mechanism of action has not been determined, but it is suggested that the antifungal activity of butenafine is exerted by changing the cell membrane, which will lead to increased cell membrane permeability and growth inhibition.
Butenafine is mainly active against dermatophytes, compared to terbinafine, naphtifine, tolnaftate, clotrimazole and bifonazole, it has better fungicidal activity against this group of fungi. It is also active against Candida albicans, which is better than terbinafine and naftifine. Butenafine also produces a low MIC against Cryptococcus neoformans and Aspergillus. Well.
