Dosage & Administration of Econate Plus 10 Cream
Adults: This cream should be applied sparingly to the skin lesion no more than 2 times daily, preferably once in the morning and once in the evening. This cream should not be applied with an occlusive dressing, or to large areas of skin on the body. The duration of treatment with this cream should continue until the inflammatory symptoms subside but not longer than 2 weeks; after 2 weeks of therapy with this cream, continue therapy as needed with a preparation containing econazole or econazole nitrate alone.
Pediatric Use: Pediatric patients may demonstrate greater susceptibility to topical corticosteroid-induced HPA axis suppression and Cushing’s syndrome than mature patients because of a larger skin surface area to body weight. Caution should be exercised.
Interaction of Econate Plus 10 Cream
Econazole is an oral anticoagulant that is metabolized by the CYP3A4/2C9 enzyme (warfarin & acenocoumarol).
Triamcinolone reduces the number of salicylates in the blood. NSAIDs increase the risk of Gl bleeding and ulceration. Antagonized the antidiabetic’s blood glucose-lowering effects. Amphotericin B, beta-blockers, potassium-depleting diuretics, and theophylline all increase the risk of hyperkalemia. With ciclosporin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, barbiturate, and rifampicin, triamcinolone clearance is increased.

Side Effects of Econate Plus 10 Cream
Immediately after application, temporary local mild discomfort, itching, and redness may occur. Econazole has low allergenicity and is well tolerated by even sensitive skin. Adrenal suppression can occur while using long-term continuous topical steroid treatment, especially in babies and toddlers, or when using occlusive dressings. It’s important to keep in mind that an infant’s napkin might serve as an occlusive dressing.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: Triamcinolone Acetonide, not Econazole, penetrates the placenta, therefore topical corticosteroids during pregnancy might induce fetal development problems. The applicability of this discovery to humans has yet to be determined. Topical steroids in big doses or for lengthy periods of time should not be used during pregnancy.
Lactation: A tiny quantity of econazole and, to a lesser degree, Triamcinolone is secreted in breast milk. As a result, this cream should not be given to a nursing woman, or if it is, lactation should be stopped during therapy.
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only. This cream is not suitable for ophthalmology or oral use.
- If there is a reaction suggesting hypersensitivity or chemical irritation, the drug should be discontinued.
- Corticosteroids applied to the skin can absorb enough to produce systemic effects, including adrenal suppression. Systemic absorption can be increased by several factors, such as use on large skin surfaces, use on damaged skin, use under closed skin bandages, and prolonged treatment time.
- Topical corticosteroids are related to skin thinning and atrophy, stretch marks, telangiectasia, and purpura.
- Topical corticosteroids may increase the risk of double skin infections or opportunistic infections.
Children: Be very careful when treating children. Compared with adults, the nature of children’s skin and the larger skin surface area associated with weight can lead to greater absorption of corticosteroids through the children’s skin. This cream can only be used on children for short periods (less than 2 weeks) and small areas (less than 10% of body surface area).
Visual impairment may be related to the use of systemic and topical corticosteroids. If the patient has symptoms such as blurred vision or other visual disturbances, referral to an ophthalmologist should be considered to evaluate possible causes, including cataracts, glaucoma, or rare diseases such as central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR).
