Pharmaceutical Name of Dutamax 0.5
Drug International Ltd.
Pharmacology
Dutasteride is a dual 5-reductase inhibitor. It prevents the conversion of testosterone to 5-dihydrotestosterone by inhibiting both type 1 and type 2 5-reductase isoenzymes (DHT). DHT is the primary androgen responsible for glandular prostatic tissue hypertrophy.
Dosage & Administration
Interaction of Dutamax 0.5
Dutasteride should be used with caution in patients who are taking potent, chronic CYP3A4 inhibitors. At a concentration of 1,000 ng/ml, 25 times higher than steady-state blood concentrations in people, dutasteride does not impede the in vitro metabolism of model substrates for the major human cytochrome P450 isoenzymes (CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, and CYP3A4). Dutasteride does not displace Warfarin, Diazepam, or Phenytoin from plasma protein binding sites, and these model drugs do not displace Dutasteride, according to in vitro experiments.
Contraindications
Dutasteride is not recommended for women or children, as well as those who have a known hypersensitivity to it or other 5 a-reductase inhibitors. Warnings: Women at danger of being exposed to a male fetus: Dutasteride is a topical medication that is absorbed through the skin. Because of the probability of Dutasteride absorption and the risk of a fetal anomaly in a male baby, women who are pregnant or may be pregnant should avoid handling Dutasteride capsules. If you come into contact with leaking capsules, wash the area with soap and water right away.

BPH symptoms in the lower urinary tract can be a sign of other urological illnesses, such as prostate cancer. Prior to starting Dutasteride medication, patients should be evaluated to rule out other urological problems. Patients with a substantial residual urine volume and/or severely reduced urinary flow may not be suitable for 5 a-reductase inhibitor therapy and should be closely monitored for obstructive uropathy. Blood Donation: Men who are on Dutasteride should wait at least 6 months after their last dose before donating blood. The goal of this postponed period is to avoid giving Dutasteride to a pregnant woman who is receiving a blood transfusion.
