Pharmacology of Clindax 25 ml Lotion

Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to it. Clindamycin is a lincomycin-derived semisynthetic antibiotic. It contains antibacterial and anti-acne properties. It binds to the 50s subunit of the bacterial ribosome and prevents protein synthesis from starting. It’s effective against both gram-positive and anaerobic bacteria.

Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis (penicillinase and non-penicillinase generating strains), Streptococci, and Pneumococci are examples of aerobic gram-positive cocci. Bacteroides and Fusobacterium species are anaerobic gram-negative bacteria. Propionibacterium species, Eubacterium species, and Actinomyces species are examples of anaerobic gram-positive non-spore-forming bacilli. Gram-positive cocci that are anaerobic or microaerophilic, such as Peptococcus species, Peptostreptococcus species, Microaerophilic streptococci, and C. perfringens.

Dosage & Administration of Clindax 25 ml Lotion

At first, wash the face or affected area gently with warm water or soap. When the skin is completely dried (about 30 minutes later) apply a thin film of Clindamycin lotion to the entire affected area twice daily. The Applied area should not be washed within 3 hours. Noticeable improvement is usually seen after about 6 weeks. However, 8 to 12 weeks of treatment may be required for maximum benefit. Eye, lip or nose contact should be avoided while applying Clindamycin lotion.

Interaction of Clindax 25 ml Lotion

Clindamycin boosts the effectiveness of other neuromuscular blockers. As a result, it should be taken with caution in patients who are taking such medications. Clindamycin and erythromycin have been shown to be antagonistic in vitro. These two medicines should not be used at the same time because of the potential for clinical complications.

Contraindications

Clindamycin is not recommended for individuals who have a history of hypersensitivity responses to Clindamycin or Lincomycin preparations, a history of regional enteritis or ulcerative colitis, or a history of antibiotic-associated colitis.

Side Effects of Clindax 25 ml Lotion

Side effects are usually uncommon. Skin rash, itching, greasy skin, dryness, erythema, burning, change in skin tone, diarrhea, colitis, GI disruption, and other adverse effects are possible.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There is insufficient evidence to suggest that it is safe to use during pregnancy. There were no negative effects on the fetus in animal tests. Clindamycin is not known if it is eliminated in breast milk after topical application. Clindamycin lotion, on the other hand, should be used with caution during breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

Clindamycin lotion should not be used in the mouth, on the eyes, or in the vaginal area. Sunlight and sunlamps should be avoided. Use sunscreen on a regular basis.
