Pharmacology of Camlodin 5mg Tablet
Amlodipine is a calcium-channel blocker that is used to treat hypertension and angina pectoris. It is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker with a long half-life. Amlodipine affects myocardial cells, cells in the heart’s specialized conducting system, and cells in the vascular smooth muscle. Amlodipine causes vasodilation, which results in lower peripheral resistance, blood pressure, and afterload, as well as enhanced coronary blood flow and a reflex rise in coronary heart rate. As a result, myocardial oxygen supply and cardiac output both rise.
Camlodin 5mg Tablet Dosage & Administration

Administrations: May be taken without regard to meals.
Interaction of Camlodin 5mg Tablet
Drug Interactions-
- Potentially hazardous interactions: Little or no data are available in patients with markedly impaired cardiac left ventricular function; however, as with other calcium antagonist drugs, the combination of Amlodipine and p-blockers should be avoided in such patients.
Other Significant Interactions-
- Digoxin: Absence of any interaction between Amlodipine and Digoxin in healthy volunteers has been documented in a controlled clinical study.
- Cimetidine: An unpublished clinical study indicated no interaction between, Amlodipine and Cimetidine in healthy volunteers.
- Warfarin: An unpublished clinical study in healthy volunteers indicates that Amlodipine did not significantly alter the effect of Warfarin on prothrombin time.

Contraindications of Camlodin 5mg Tablet
Hypersensitivity to dihydropyridine derivatives. Pregnant woman.
Camlodin 5mg Tablet Side Effects
Camlodin 5mg Tablet’s most common side effects are dizziness, flushing, headache, hypotension, and peripheral edema, all of which are caused by its vasodilatory action. GI issues, increased micturition frequency, fatigue, eye pain, and mental distress are all possible side effects. At the onset of treatment, a paradoxical rise in ischemic chest discomfort may occur, and in a few patients, an extreme drop in blood pressure has resulted in cerebral or myocardial ischemia or transitory blindness. Rashes, fever, and changes in liver function may arise as a result of an Amlodipine hypersensitivity reaction.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Classification C. Amlodipine has not been studied in pregnant women in a sufficient and well-controlled manner. Only if the possible benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus should amlodipine be used during pregnancy. Amlodipine is not known to be excreted in human milk. Nursing should be stopped while Amlodipine is being delivered in the absence of this information.
Precautions & Warnings
