Description

Indications

Bisocor 2.5 is indicated-

  • Hypertension
  • Angina
  • Moderate to severe heart failure

Pharmacology

Bisoprolol hemifumarate is the most selective ß1 blocker. It has the highest affinity for ß1 receptors compared to any other beta blockers available to date. It selectively blocks ß1 adrenergic receptors in the heart and vascular smooth muscles, reducing heart rate and cardiac output, thereby reducing arterial hypertension. The lipid metabolism of patients using non-selective β-1 blockers may be adversely affected by β-blockers, but in long-term treatment, bisoprolol will not produce any changes in cholesterol scores, including the heart Protective HDL cholesterol.

Dosage & Administration

Hypertension: The dosage of bisoprolol should be individualized according to the needs of the patient. The usual starting dose is 5 mg once a day. In some patients, 2.5 mg may be a suitable starting dose. If the antihypertensive effect of 5 mg is insufficient, the dose can be increased to 10 mg, if necessary, to 20 mg, once a day.

Angina: generally 10 mg per day (5 mg may be sufficient for some patients), up to 20 mg per day.

Heart failure: Initially 1.25 mg once daily (in the morning) for 1 week, then, if well tolerated, increase to 2.5 mg once daily for 1 week, then to 3.75 mg per day for 1 week, then 5 mg a day for 4 weeks, then 7.5 mg a day mg once for 4 weeks, then 10 mg once a day, up to 10 mg a day.
