Indications
Main uses
- Brain dysfunction: memory deficit, depression, loss of concentration and memory in Alzheimer’s disease and multiple infarct dementia.
- Dizziness and tinnitus (tinnitus) of vascular and degenerative origin.
- Peripheral vascular disease: According to the Fontaine physical therapy program (intermittent claudication), especially walking exercise, the painless walking distance of stage II peripheral arterial occlusive disease has been improved.
Other potential uses
- Acute cochlear deafness.
- Sexual dysfunction related to the use of SSRIs.
- Protection against hypoxia.
Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration
Ginkgo Biloba 60 mg: 1 or 2 capsules daily or as advised by the physician.

Contraindications
Ginkgo biloba should be used with caution only in patients taking blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (ie, warfarin, heparin, and aspirin). Due to the increased possibility of bleeding before prolonged use (612 months) or elective surgery, it is also contraindicated in bleeding disorders. Contraindicated in patients with known risk factors for intracranial hemorrhage
Side Effects
There are no side effects after the prescribed therapeutic dose is taken correctly. In a combined clinical trial involving 10,000 patients, the incidence of side effects from Ginkgo biloba extract was extremely low. Some have headaches, dizziness, palpitations, gastrointestinal disorders, bleeding disorders, and allergic skin reactions. At doses higher than recommended, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, irritability and weakness may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation
During pregnancy and nursing, no known restrictions have been discovered.
Precautions & Warnings
If you are allergic to it, have bleeding difficulties, seizures, convulsions, or epilepsy, tell your doctor before using it. Ginkgo biloba may reduce blood clotting capacity. 2 weeks before surgery, stop using this product.
