Indications of Becoral D Tablet
This medication is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis, osteomalacia, tetany, hypoparathyroidism, and osteogenesis disorders. Also used as a supplement for calcium deficiency in children’s diets, rickets, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and geriatric people. Pancreatitis, phosphate binder in chronic renal failure, and other conditions are among the other indications.
Pharmacology of Becoral D Tablet
This is a calcium and vitamin D3 supplement made from calcium carbonate derived from coral. The chemical structure of coral calcium carbonate is extremely similar to the chemical structure of human bone. Coral Calcium is comparable to other calcium sources, however it has a higher absorption rate. Vitamin D3 increases calcium absorption from the GI tract and helps the body maintain calcium equilibrium.
Dosage & Administration of Becoral D Tablet
One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by the physician. Taking in full stomach ensures better absorption.
Interaction of Becoral D Tablet
Oral calcium can reduce the absorption of tetracycline and fluoride preparations, and there should be at least 3 hours between the intake of these drugs. Thiazide diuretics can reduce renal calcium excretion. Phenytoin, barbiturates and glucocorticoids can induce vitamin D3 metabolism. At the same time intake of certain foods, such as spinach, cereals, milk and their derivatives, will reduce the absorption of calcium in the intestines.
Contraindications
Hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastasis, severe kidney failure, severe hypercalciuria, kidney stones caused by hypersensitivity to any ingredient, vitamin D3 overdose.
Side Effects of Becoral D Tablet
Flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, upper gastrointestinal discomfort, etc. They are rare manifestations. Hypercalcemia caused by long-term use is rarely reported.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This can be given to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers on the advice of a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings
In the presence of mild hypercalciuria, careful monitoring and dose reduction may be required. In the case of mild to moderate renal insufficiency and long-term use, plasma and serum calcium levels should be monitored. Patients with kidney stones or a history of such diseases should also take preventive measures.
